Wish-Zoned: Using Magic to Make Someone Love You Has Scary (But Expected) Consequences in ‘Obsession’
The Genie in Aladdin warned us that we can’t use wishes to make someone love us, but apparently Bear, the lead character in Obsession, never got that message.
Directed by Curry Barker, Obsession stars Michael Johnston as Bear, a young man who is unlucky in love. He unseriously asks a vintage wish-granting toy called a ‘One Wish Willow’ to make his crush Nikki (Inde Navarrette) fall for him, but soon he’s wishing he could take it back.
In the teaser, we see him on the phone with customer service asking for help from an unenthusiastic call center worker. Bear doesn’t want to cancel the wish, just alter it, but he’s told that the wishing toy doesn’t work that way.
