The Odyssey won’t be released for more than six months, but director Christopher Nolan wants you to come along for the ride.

Nolan released the trailer for The Odyssey Monday, and though it’s not the six-minute-long epic that Universal released to theaters earlier this month, it is long enough to make the viewer as travel-weary as the lead character Odysseus (Matt Damon).

As you might remember from your literature class in school, The Odyssey chronicles the adventures of Greek hero Odysseus as he travels back home after the Trojan War, fighting monsters, watching a witch turn his men into pigs, and battling the terrible might of the sea. The story is based on the Greek epic penned by Homer around the years 700-800 BCE.

Odysseus treks across land, through caves, and sails the wine-dark sea, facing monsters like the one hinted at by the trailer: a large cave-dwelling beast appearing in the shadows of one of the caves. There are also brief shots of Holland as Odysseus’ son Telemachus and Hathaway as Penelope, Odysseus’ wife, as well as the infamous Trojan Horse.

Also starring are Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo and more. In addition to directing, Nolan wrote the script and produced the film alongside his wife, Emma Thomas.

The Odyssey will arrive in theaters on July 17th.
