Missing Your MTV? ‘Headbangers Ball’, ‘Yo! MTV Raps’ and ‘120 Minutes’ Videos Now Streaming on ‘MTV Rewind’

If the thought “I want my MTV!” still crosses your mind from time to time, one music video fan launched a site that can help with that craving.
To fill the void left when MTV ceased broadcasting at the end of 2025, a coder who goes by the handle FlexasaurusRex has created a free website called MTV Rewind, featuring archival music content from throughout the network’s history, from “1st day” content from the network’s 1981 launch through music videos the 2020s. The app’s database is powered by IMVDb (The Internet Music Video Database).
As of publishing, MTV Rewind has eleven channels currently boasting 35,463 total classic music videos and vintage commercials pulled from sites like YouTube and Vevo. That number has been steadily going up. The channels include music videos from MTV Unplugged, the network’s landmark hip-hop show Yo! MTV Raps and heavy metal program Headbangers Ball.
The videos play at random, so you can’t watch an entire episode of say, 120 Minutes, but you can listen to a randomized playlist of songs featured on the alternative music show. You can shuffle music from any one of the channels or from all channels, and if you don’t want to stream any one song or ad, just fast forward ahead to the next one. None of MTV’s reality or game shows, often vilified for killing the original intention of MTV, are featured on the site.

A message at the top of MTV Rewind promises the site will be “free forever” without ads, but you can support creator FlexasaurusRex with a donation here. On the Farcaster.xyz site, Flexasaurus spelled out why he built the site.
“MTV was a cultural institution that changed music, fashion, and youth culture. Then they stopped showing music videos and became reality TV. I felt a wave of sadness when the announcement hit. Nothing felt like it could fill that void. So I started coding. [I] built MTV REWIND this weekend – resurrected MTV when it actually played music.”
The site also features a “secret” feature that allows users to save individual videos – just click the MTV rewind logo to activate that function.
