Shortly after The Boys aired its last episode of its final season, Prime Video dropped the Vought Rising trailer, giving fans their peek at the prequel series that shows some of the original Supes and how they came to be that way.

Vought Rising takes place in the 1950s, long before the modern-day cynicism that permeates The Boys became the norm. The US may still be reeling after World War II, but peace and patriotism are still the cultural norm, as far as modern society is concerned, because the powers that be are skilled at hiding their dark secrets.

Thus, the Soldier Boy we see in the trailer is eager to do his part to be a hero for his country. In the trailer, though, we see that he has made the unfortunate choice to confess this desire to Clara Vought (Aya Cash), who grows up to become the evil Nazi Stormfront in the OG series during season 2.

But Solder Boy isn’t the only new Supe – we also briefly meet the rest of his team, all of whom gain their powers by taking V-One. The group includes Bombsight (Mason Dye), who was introduced in The Boys season 5, along with Private Angel (Elizabeth Posey), and Torpedo (Will Hochman).

“There’s a bright future,” Clara Vought tells Soldier Boy in a slight German accent. “All we need to do is take it.”

Paul Grellong will serve as the showrunner, with The Boys creator Eric Kripke executive producing along with Seth Rogen, Even Goldberg, James Weaver, Garth Ennis and others. Kripke told TVLine that this and any future spinoffs of The Boys are not cynical cash grabs.

“My feeling is that The Boys was my passion project. If we’re gonna do shows in this world, I’m not interested in pieces of commerce; I’m interested in giving an executive producer their first shot at running a show with an idea that they’re truly passionate about, like Paul Grellong is with Vought Rising. I mean that era and that story is his passion project, and that’s what I want them all to be.”

KiKi Layne, Jorden Myrie, Nicolo Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri and Brian J. Smith are also set to appear in Vought Rising. No official start date has been announced, but it is expected to air some time in 2027.
