The cast of the next Mummy movie could find themselves with a “Bear” in their midst.

Michael Johnston, the polarizing main character in one of this year’s biggest films, Obsession, is in early talks to join the cast of the upcoming fourth film in the Mummy franchise. He would appear on the marquee with stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz if signed.

Johnston, who also starred in the television series Teen Wolf, played Bear in Obsession – the main character who makes a wish for his unrequited love to fall for him, with unintended (and intended) consequences. Obsession is now Focus Features’ all-time top-grossing film.

Fraser and Weisz have each closed deals to reprise their roles as adventurer Rick O’Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn O’Connell in the movie. As of now, no plot details have been revealed for the movie, which follows 1999’s The Mummy, 2001’s The Mummy Returns, and 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Scream and Ready or Not filmmakers Radio Silence (also known as Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) are directing from a script by David Coggeshall. John Hannah is also reprising his role as Evelyn’s brother Jonathan. The film is schedule to be released on October 17th, 2027.
