Pardon our Variety-style headline, but we can’t resist: we LOVE Cobra Kai. And you probably do too, as evidenced by how very many of you streamed the first two seasons after its August 28th Netflix debut.

So we are super-stoked to find out today that Netflix renewed the Karate Kid-based series for a fourth season, AND announced that the eagerly-awaited season 3 premiere will be January 8th.

Over two-billion minutes of Cobra Kai were streamed in the first two weeks after Netflix added the show, which was originally produced for YouTube. Season 3 is in the can and will be released as a Netflix original.

The show was shopped to other streamers after YouTube couldn’t commit to a fourth season, despite millions of views and critical raves.

Cobra Kai takes place 30-odd years after The Karate Kid and that pivotal, leg-sweeping All-Valley karate tournament.

Ralph Macchio’s Daniel and William Zabka as Johnny are still rivals, but the grown-up kind, with families and businesses. Cobra Kai does (in our opinion) a great job of redeeming Johnny’s character, while also making Daniel more flawed.

Are you as excited as we are? Let us know!
