Back to ‘The Barn’: Retro Horror Indie Sequel Releases First Trailer in Advance of Premiere
Don’t go in The Barn!
But do see the movie. The Barn Part II is the sequel to the 2016 indie The Barn (of course), which was a retro thriller set in 1989 on Halloween. It followed Sam and Josh and their friends, who just wanted to go to a concert, but a detour leads them to discover a deserted barn. They find out the barn that they’ve come across has a deadly curse attached to it and soon the teens find themselves at the mercy of three monsters: The Boogeyman, Hollow Jack, and the Candy Corn Scarecrow.
The Barn was produced by Nevermore Production Films and released by Terror Films.
Pop Culture Junkie saw The Barn at a horror movie convention when it was released and found it to be an enjoyable and scary low-budget thriller, with plenty of humorous touches. The movie has won a few indie film awards, like the Audience Choice award for Best Picture at the Idaho Film Festival.
The director of the original, Justin M. Seaman, launched an Indiegogo campaign to create a sequel which was successfully funded (with plenty to spare!) The sequel is scheduled for a 2022 release.
According to the movie’s official tagline, “The Barn: Part II takes place three years after the events of the first film and follows our final girl Michelle who is now in college. However, she is still plagued with the questions of what truly happened after what she believes was only a ritualistic attack that killed all her friends. With the ban on Halloween lifted in her hometown, the sorority girls of Gamma Tau Psi place Michelle and her best friend Heather in charge of the annual haunted house. Unfortunately for Michelle some uninvited trick or treaters from her past come knocking.”
The sequel will feature Lexi Dripps, Mitchell Musolino, Will Stout, Ari Lehman and Linnea Quigley reprising their roles from the original movie. Troma Entertainment founder Lloyd Kaufman, horror hosts Joe Bob Briggs and Diana Prince and Hellraiser star Doug Bradley join the cast.
You can pre-order a DVD at their Indiegogo site. The Barn is streaming on Cinedigm’s Screambox site
