POV Shift: ‘Ferris Bueller’ Spinoff Film To Look At Joyriding Valets In ‘Sam And Victor’s Day Off’
Everyone knows what Ferris did that day.
But what happened to those unnamed valets, who promised to safely park Cameron’s dad’s car only to take it for a short but exuberant joyride on Ferris Bueller’s Day Off? A new movie will explore their special day too.
Spun off from the 1986 John Hughes film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Paramount has greenlit Sam and Victor’s Day Off, which will follow the same-day adventure of the valets who took that Ferrari for a spin in the Matthew Broderick comedy.
Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald are heading the movie, which will be written by Bill Posley (The Neighborhood).
In the original film, the valet attendants were not given official names. They were played by Richard Edson and Larry “Flash” Jenkins, who died in 2019. In their few scenes, the two run up the odometer on the prized red Ferrari, forcing Cameron (Alan Ruck) to decide to stand up to his father, with whom he has a fraught relationship.
Paul Young (Key & Peele) is producing through his company, Make Good Content; the company’s executive Devon Young will oversee the project.
Who will play Sam and Victor, and whether any original cast members will return has yet to be announced, and there is no projected premiere date.
