Come September 3rd, tickets to everything, everywhere, all at once are $3.

No, not (just) the critically-acclaimed movie starring Michelle Yeoh, but all movies in all theaters all day will cost you a measly three dollars per ticket at participating theaters. Harkins, AMC, Cinemark and Regal have all signed on to the promotion, among others. Theaters in the UK are also participating.

The Cinema Foundation is inviting moviegoers to join them in theaters with discounted admissions on Saturday, September 3rd, with tickets costing no more than $3. (One caveat: tax is not included in that sum.)

The one-day event will be held at more than 3,000 participating locations hosting more than 30,000 screens. On tap will be exclusive previews and special in-theater promotions; AMC Theaters, for example will offer a $5 popcorn/fountain drink combo.

The promotion is aimed to cap a summer of record-breaking box office success with movies and a special sneak peek of upcoming titles from A24, Amazon Studios, Disney, Focus Features, Lionsgate, Neon, Paramount, Sony Pictures Classics, Sony, United Artists Releasing, Universal, and Warner Bros., only on September 3rd.

“After this summer’s record-breaking return to cinemas, we wanted to do something to celebrate moviegoing,” said Cinema Foundation president Jackie Brenneman said in a statement. “We’re doing it by offering a ‘thank you’ to the moviegoers that made this summer happen, and by offering an extra enticement for those who haven’t made it back yet.”

Indeed, cinemas have yet to recover from Covid-19 shutdowns, though theater attendance is up year over year since 2020. Some chains, like Regal, have struggled to stay open since the start of the pandemic.
