Hayden Panettiere is back in the Scream family, but she wasn’t easy to find.

Producer Kevin Williamson told Variety that he wanted to bring back Panettiere’s character, last seen left for dead in Scream 4, he had trouble tracking her down.

“We’re like, ‘Where’s Kirby?’ We couldn’t find her. She doesn’t have an agent. She had sort of disappeared,” Williamson said. But while he was filming season 2 of Tell Me a Story in Tennessee, he met some crew members who had worked with her during her time on the drama Nashville.

“I called up my producer in Nashville and said, ‘Do you know Hayden Panettiere, by any chance? Because we can’t find her!’ He’s like, ‘Oh yeah, let me call her,’” says Williamson. “And then they called back and it was like, ‘Alright, found her!’”

Now that he’s found her, though, he isn’t saying what she’ll be doing in the upcoming Scream 6.

“There’s so much speculation about what her participation is in the movie and I love it. We should just let it live until the movie.”

The trailer offers a brief look at Panettiere, who is reprising her Scream 4 role as Kirby, the lone survivor of the high-body count Woodsboro Massacre Remake, who made a brief visual cameo in Scream 5.

“I have a secret. I have a darkness inside of me. It followed me here and it’s going to keep coming for us,” Barrera’s Sam says in the trailer.

“We share a certain history,” Panettiere adds.

The sixth entry, the first to not feature Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, is also the first one based in New York City instead of the small town of Woodsboro. The action in the newest movie takes the chase to subways, bodegas, old apartment buildings and high-tech underground shrines.

Ghostface menaces characters in all those familiar NYC locations, promising that “There’s never been one like me,” before adding, “I’m something — different.”

Courteney Cox appears in the trailer. Cox reprises her role as Gale, who was widowed in the fifth installment when David Arquette’s character, Dewey, was killed off. Also returning are Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding.

New characters include Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra and Samara Weaving.

Scream 6 is in theaters beginning on March 10th.
