DO NOT talk to the hand.

That’s what you’ll be saying as you watch the trailer for A24’s upcoming horror release Talk to Me, coming this summer. The movie marks the feature directorial debut of Australian twin brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, best known for their YouTube content.

A24 acquired the film from the 2023 Sundance festival, where it was very much sought after. A24 will release it in theaters nationwide on July 28th.

The film, was written by the Philippou brothers along with Bill Hinzman. It will share opening weekend at the box office with another scare-fest, the Haunted Mansion film from Disney, though the two are dissimilar in tone, naturally.

In Talk to Me, a group of friends discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, becoming hooked on the chance to communicate with the dead.

Mia (Sophie Wilde) is determined to get a piece of the otherworldly action in order to be distracted on the eve of her mother’s death. But when her group of friends gathers for another unruly séance with the mysterious embalmed hand that promises a direct line to the spirits, they’re unprepared for the consequences of bending the rules through prolonged contact. As the boundary between worlds collapses and disturbing supernatural visions increasingly haunt Mia, she rushes to undo the horrific damage before it’s irreversible.

In addition to Wilde, the film stars Miranda Otto, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, Zoe Terakes, and Chris Alosi. Causeway Films’ Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton (The Babadook) produced the film.
