Horror heroine Mia Goth is joining the MCU.

Goth, who established herself as a rising talent in horror with roles in last year’s connected slashers and Pearl, has been cast alongside one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s darker heroes, Blade.

The MCU’s Blade stars Mahershala Ali as the half-human, half-vampire being who spends his time hunting full-on vampires to avenge his late mother. Yann Demange, the director known for Lovecraft Country, is directing from a script by Michael Starrbury.

Comic book writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan introduced the world to Blade in 1973’s The Tomb of Dracula No. 10, and Wesley Snipes played Blade in a trilogy of films produced by Marvel and released by New Line Cinema in the late 1990s/early 2000s.

The new Blade was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con way back in 2019. Shooting will begin in Atlanta, date undetermined, but the film has its release date set at September 6th, 2024. The film will conclude Marvel’s Phase 5.

Marvel’s next two releases are Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, due in theaters on May 5th and The Marvels, which should hit the big screen in November.

Goth is about to begin shooting the third installment of director Ti West’s X saga, MaXXXine, which comes from A24 studios. She also is attached to Guillermo del Toro’s take on Frankenstein, which is expected to star Oscar Isaac and Andrew Garfield. Both actors have appeared in the MCU as Moon Knight and Spider-Man, respectively.
