A Chill In The Air: ‘Ghostbusters’ Poster Art Indicates Possible Winter or Holiday Theme For Next Film
Is that late noise a ghost…or Santa Claus?
Sony Pictures released poster art for their upcoming sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which showed the iconic ghost logo covered in what looks like ice, leading many to speculate that the new movie will be a winter-themed or even a Christmas-themed movie.
The plot of the sequel is being kept secret for now, but with a scheduled release date of December 20th, 2023, those speculations are probably close to the truth. What is known is that the sequel will continue the story begun in Afterlife.
The only tease for the movie we’ve seen so far was in the end credits of Afterlife, which featured OG Ghostbuster Winston (Ernie Hudson) returning the famous Echo-1 to the old headquarters in NYC.
The working title for the movie has been Firehouse, as the setting is rumored to be back in New York City at the iconic firehouse made famous in the original Ghostbusters films.
Gil Kenan (Monster House, Poltergeist) is directing and the cast includes Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind, alongside returning stars Hudson, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon.
Jason Reitman is producing the sequel, due in theaters December 20th.
