Who (if anyone) will be the Golden Bachelorette?

Many of ABC’s unchosen Bachelors and Bachelorettes – contestants who almost but not quite get chosen by the show’s lead – find themselves doing the selection on future iterations of the show. This has led to some speculation by fans of the show, who wonder if – or when – ABC will find a senior single lady for the Golden version of its signature dating reality show.

And ABC is aware of this speculation and a rep said publicly that the idea is definitely on the table, though the network has yet to make a decision.

Rob Mills, Executive VP of Unscripted & Alternative Entertainment at Walt Disney Television, said at the Realscreen event in New Orleans that “I think something will be coming soon.”

However, he cautioned his audience that he wants to be “really careful” to make sure that a spinoff would be as effective as The Golden Bachelor, which had the strongest average ratings for any ABC unscripted series in five years (since American Idol‘s 2019-20 season.)

One casting director seems to be actively looking for older gents to appear on the show, however. Rachel Reilly Villegas, who lists herself as a three-time reality show winner and casting producer on Instagram, posted that she is taking applications for The Golden Bachelorette now.

The text of her post reads: “Golden BACHELORETTE is now casting! We need you to send your fav single men my way ages 55+!!! Let’s find them their forever Valentine! That adorb man from pickleball or the supermarket 😍 DM your favs or apply for them nominations open now!!”

Rachel put a link to an application in her post so potential suitors can apply for the show. The application, from BachelorNation.com, seems to be a boilerplate entry form that includes basic questions about height, weight, and profession, as well as questions about past relationships, and kids. This application asks about grandchildren, though, so make of that what you will.

As for who would be the woman at the center of all those men, (if it happens), some of the also-rans during Gerry Turner’s Golden Bachelor season could find themselves handing out roses. We could see 65-year-old fitness instructor Leslie Fhima, who was the runner-up for Turner’s affections, taking the lead.

There’s also 60-year-old private school administrator Joan Vassos, 61-year-old radio host Faith Martin, 71-year-old retired teacher Ellen Goltzer, or even 75-year-old retired executive assistant Sandra Mason, who missed her daughter’s wedding to vie for Turner’s affections. Now that’s dedication to the premise!
