Disney dropped the first full-length trailer for its (mostly) live-action Snow White film, due out in the spring, and boy, it’s something.

The trailer features Gal Gadot, resplendent (if hooded) as the evil queen, Rachel Zegler as the pretty young girl messing with the Queen’s positive body image, and some truly odd/disturbing CGI additions to the cast, namely, the seven dwarves.

Doc, Grumpy, Bashful, Sneezy, Sleepy, Happy and Dopey look like they could be riding the Polar Express, as does the Queen’s “old-crone-passing-out-poison-apples” disguise.

We also get to hear Zegler sing a bit of “Waiting on a Wish,” a new song added to the soundtrack for this movie.

In this iteration of the story, the Queen is Snow’s Mommy Dearest, who in addition to her obsession with the girl she perceives as her rival in a kingdom-wide beauty contest, has time to make life generally miserable for everyone else who lives there, especially Snow, who must flee to the woods for her safety. (And straight into the home of the eldritch horror that is the Seven Dwarves.)

But this Snow White is not a passive princess waiting for a dude to rescue her; she a social justice warrior who enlists her new friends to help her resist the machinations of the Queen.

“The Queen stole everything from all of us. I’m going to need your help. It’s time to restore our Kingdom,” she tells her height-challenged fellow freedom-fighters.

Snow White is produced by Marc Platt and Jared LeBoff. Marc Webb directs the live-action musical reimagination of the 1937 Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote the musical’s new songs. Andrew Burnap and Ansu Kabia also star.

Snow White, whose release was delayed an entire year due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes, will now be released on March 21st, 2025.
