Jessica Jones is the latest Marvel character from the Netflix era to join the MCU via Disney+.

Krysten Ritter appeared at the Disney Upfront on Tuesday to share the good news that she’s joining the cast of Daredevil: Born Again for its sophomore season.

“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU,” Ritter said. “I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!” she told the assembled audience.

Ritter joined star Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdoch/Daredevil, on the stage. Cox promised a “bold new direction” for the series, adding “I’m excited to suit up in an iconic Daredevil suit, finally complete with the interlocking Ds on the chest.”

Ritter played the nigh-invincible private detective, created for Marvel comics in 2001, on the Netflix series Jessica Jones, which debuted in 2015. In 2017 Jones became part of The Defenders, a crossover series featuring Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Jessica Jones ran for three seasons before being cancelled by Netflix.

Disney has been working on bringing more of the Netflix characters back since Daredevil: Born Again starring Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio debuted on Disney+ in March 2025. Jon Bernthal also returned in that show as Frank Castle, a.k.a The Punisher.

Season 2 of Born Again is already in production with a projected premiere date of March, 2026.
