Haunted Bloodline: ‘Descendent’ Follows a Man Struggling with Family Trauma – and Alien Abduction
Expecting your first child is reason enough to be anxious – but what if you also had to deal with being abducted by aliens?
The Walking Dead‘s Ross Marquand plays a man who has to do just that in Descendent, a new horror thriller coming next month from RLJE Films.
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Descendent‘s official description reads “Sean Bruner (Marquand), a school security guard who is haunted by childhood trauma while preparing for the birth of his first child with his wife, Andrea (Sarah Bolger). After a beam of light appears in the sky during a late-night shift, Sean wakes up in the hospital with an inexplicable talent for vivid, unsettling drawings of extraterrestrials and desert landscapes. As his visions blur the line between dreams and reality, Sean’s grip on sanity unravels. With time running out, he must confront his fears to escape his family’s tragic legacy.”

In the trailer, we see Sean’s world – and his wife’s – unraveling as they can no longer deny that something is very wrong with him after his mysterious encounter. In one scene, Sean’s wife appears to be going into labor as Sean stares at her, motionless. Then from his point of view we see her being whooshed out of the room and down the dark hallway, screaming.
Descendent is the feature debut by writer/director Peter Cilella. Filmmaking duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Moon Knight, Spring, Something in the Dirt) produce alongside David Lawson Jr. of Rustic Films.
Descendent will have a limited opening release on August 8the before getting a nationwide release on August 15th.
