Finally, America’s favorite monster cereals and the company responsible for our favorite felt friends are working together!

While we are still waiting for an official announcement from the Jim Henson Company, the Muppet-Stuff blog reports that the studio that brought us Grover, Big Bird, Kermit the Frog and Fozzy Bear (to name but a few of our favorites) is partnering with General Mills for a special promotion featuring Monster Cereals mascots Count Chocula, Boo Berry, and Franken Berry.

The blog site provided images of Count Chocula and Boo Berry boxes featuring puppetized versions of the cereal icons. Franken Berry can be seen in a composite image featuring the three along with some other furry puppet monsters. The image featuring Boo Berry can be found on the website of supermarket giant Kroger where it seems to be available for order.

According to Muppet-Stuff, the Henson-crafted monster puppets will appear across a wide range of media:

  • Limited Edition Cereal Boxes featuring their new puppet likenesses
  • Television and digital commercials
  • Online content and social media ads
  • In-store promotional items— with speculation that puppets or collectible figures could be available

Count Chocula and Franken Berry first graced our breakfast tables way back in 1971, with Boo Berry following two years later. Those three cereals have been been available since then, if only seasonally.

Fans of Fruit Brute, Yummy Mummy and the newest spooky cereal monster, Carmella Creeper, will have to wait to see their favorites in felt, unfortunately. Fruit Brute was launched in 1974 but disappeared from store shelves in 1982. In 1987, the similarly flavored Yummy Mummy took over for a while, from 1987-1992. Since then, the two came back for a brief time from 2013-2014. Carmella Creeper was a mascot latecomer, first debuting in 2023.

Look for an official announcement that you can find your favorite Monster Cereal in puppet form at the supermarket and even the toy aisle soon.
