We now know the direction of Taylor Swift’s new era.

Wednesday, Swift announced on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast that her 12th album would be called The Life of a Showgirl, and would contain all new tracks (see tracklist below.) The album drop date is October 3rd.

Before the podcast, Swift’s team started teasing the announcement, posting photos on Instagram showing her in a variety of orange outfits captioned “Thinking about when she said ‘“’See you next era…'”

Why was orange given such significance? The theories are rampant on that. Fans have speculated that it could be a combo of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs red and yellow uniform colors, or the energy, warmth or general sunniness of the color. “Taylor wore all orange for the 12th European show,” one Twitter user called out, noting that the next album would be Swift’s 12th. The color orange was then featured prominently throughout the tour.

As for the album, we haven’t heard anything yet and not much is The only featured artist on the standard edition is Sabrina Carpenter in the title track, “The Life of a Showgirl.” The rest of the track titles are as follows:

“The Fate of Ophelia”
“Elizabeth Taylor”
“Opalite”
“Father Figure”
Eldest Daughter”
“Ruin the Friendship”
“Actually Romantic”
“Wi$h Li$t”
“Wood
“CANCELLED!”
“Honey”
“The Life of a Showgirl (feat. Sabrina Carpenter)”

Despite the emphasis on the color orange, the cover art of Showgirl shows Swift, bedecked in a bejewelled showgirl outfit, floating in a sea green pool. Only the album title is orange.

These tones, now associated with Swift, caused a flurry of social media posts by brands (and buildings) hoping to cash in on a little orange and green magic.

Even the Empire State Building tried on Swiftie orange for a night to celebrate the momentous occasion.

This is Swift’s first release since 2024’s The Tortured Poet’s Department.
