‘Gremlins’ are Go: ‘Final Destination’ Writers Teaming with Columbus and Spielberg for 2027 Release

The Gremlins are back, and in addition to not getting wet or eating after midnight, they and their caretakers need to avoid riding behind trucks carrying a load of logs.
Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the screenwriters behind Final Destination: Bloodlines are scripting the third film featuring those rascally Gremlins, along with Chris Columbus, who penned the first film in the franchise.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav the news as he led Warner Bros’ third-quarter earnings call. Columbus is attached to direct Gremlins 3 as well as producing. Steven Spielberg will return as executive producer.
Zaslav said Gremlins 3 will be released on November 19th, 2027, around ten years after Columbus began working on a script to revive the franchise. The first Gremlins movie debuted in 1984, and the first sequel, Gremlins: The New Batch, was released in 1990. Joe Dante, who directed the first two films in the franchise, opted to sit out the third film. Both films were produced by Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment. Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates starred in both movies, but their return to the new film is not set as of now..
