Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor are forced to fight enough dinosaurs to fill Jurassic Park in the trailer for The End of Oak Street.

In the film, which comes from writer/director David Robert Mitchell and producer J.J. Abrams, “a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.”

In the trailer young Brian Platt (Christian Convery) wakes up to a flashing white light and high winds (and his freaked-out dog.) The next day, his parents, Greg (Ewan McGregor) and Denise (Anne Hathaway) and his little sister Audrey (Maisy Stella) are skeptical, but only until they discover their entire street has no power, no water, and some very unwelcome pests: carnivorous dinosaurs.

Not only that, but the street ends rather abruptly with a sheer drop into a primeval forest. Later, we see the family being chased down the street by some kind of dino, which munches on the head of one unlucky neighbor. (All this happens, ironically we’re assuming) as Billy Joel’s “My Life” plays in the background.

Now the family must try to survive a world with no grocery stores but lots of apex predators, all while trying to figure out how they got to this strange past world and to see if there’s a way back to where and when they are supposed to be.

Chris Coy, P.J. Byrne and Jordan Alexa Davis also star in the film, which is being produced by Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and released by Warner Bros.

The End of Oak Street debuts in theaters beginning August 14th. This is just one of many projects featuring Anne Hathaway opening this year, who already premiered Mother Mary and The Devil Wears Prada 2, and who has The Odyssey and Verity coming out in July and October, respectively.
