From a Killer Doll to Demonic Possession: ‘Chucky’ Star Fiona Dourif Has ‘A Head Full of Ghosts’

Fiona Dourif just can’t escape the horror, or horror roles, to be precise.
Dourif, who played Nica Pierce in the films Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky as well as the Chucky series, has joined the cast of A Head Full of Ghosts, a movie based on the 2015 book of the same name by Paul Tremblay. Dourif currently stars as Dr. McKay on The Pitt on HBO Max and has appeared in series like The Purge, True Blood, and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
The book follows a Massachusetts family whose 14-year-old daughter Marjorie seems to be suffering demonic possession, leading to the family’s appearance on a reality TV show that exploits their situation. The story is told from the point of view of Merry, Marjorie’s sister, 15 years later.
Dourif joins a cast which includes David Harbour (Stranger Things, Hellboy), Rebecca Hall (The Night House), and Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna), as well as Bodhi Rae Breathnach (Hamnet) and Hollie Hill-Pearson.
Hill-Pearson will play young Merry and Creed-Miles will portray adult Merry. Breathnach will be her older teenage sister Marjorie; and Dourif and Harbour appear as the parents.
Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala (Goodnight Mommy) are writing and directing, and Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan are producing for Lionsgate. No release date is known at this time.
