Rory and Lorelei are going back (sort of) to where it all began.

Last seen on Netflix in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Rory and Lorelei Gilmore are headed back to The CW Network for a four-day Thanksgiving event starting Monday, November 23rd.

Alexis Bledel plays Rory and Lauren Graham is Lorelei, and Kelly Bishop plays Emily, the matriarch of the family. In A Year in the Life, the death of Lorelei’s dad Richard has Emily facing major changes, as Rory struggles with post-college life and Lorelei is dealing with issues of her own.

Although technically when Gilmore Girls launched back in 2000 it was on The WB , it ended its seven year run on the offshoot CW Network. The story of three generations of fast-talking, coffee-addicted Gilmore women was then revived for the Netflix event series in 2016.

The episodes on Netflix covered four seasons in one year of the clan’s lives and ended on a major cliffhanger, which we won’t spoil.

Now, in an unusual turn of events, the show has boomeranged back to network television (though you will also be able to stream it on the ad-supported cw.com site.)

Created, directed and written by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, each episode of the sequel follows the characters through one of the four seasons.
