It’s Official – No Man Alive is Sexier Than Paul Rudd According to People Magazine
Well, duh.
Paul Rudd, as anyone with eyes could affirm, is quite the babe. He stole our hearts in Clueless back in 1995, became an Anchorman in 2004, joined the Avengers as Ant-Man in 2015, and a Ghostbuster in 2021, and somehow failed to age in the interim. He’s charming, funny, and yeah, easy on the eyes. So it should come as no surprise that Paul Rudd has been named People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2021.
Stephen Colbert had the honor of letting Rudd know the good news: he announced the recipient of the magazine’s annual honor during CBS’ The Late Show on Tuesday night. The star is featured on the cover of People‘s annual Sexiest Man Alive issue, out now.
Rudd, who can be soon be seen starring in Apple TV+’s The Shrink Next Door, assumes the crown from Michael B. Jordan, 2020’s SMA.
Colbert broke the news by making the 52-year-old Wet Hot American Summer star perform various tests designed to determine if he was sexy. This included having Rudd drench himself with water and attempt to deliver the perfect slouch.
At the end of the bit, Colbert informed Rudd that he “tested negative for sexy.” This led the actor say that the verdict “makes sense. I appreciate you just giving me a shot, honestly.” And that led Colbert to turn the tables and reveal that , Rudd is the Sexiest Man Alive. “Don’t you see, Paul? There’s nothing sexier than humility,” Colbert said. “That was the last test, and you passed, Paul!”
Rudd, who is known for his youthful appearance, must have already been clued into his new status, and shared it with his wife, Julie Yaeger. According to Rudd, she was “stupefied” by the news. He continued, “After some giggling and shock, she said, ‘Oh, they got it right.’ And that was very sweet. She was probably not telling the truth, but what’s she going to say?”
Rudd joins fellow SMA winners Matthew McConaughey, Idris Elba, Sean Connery, Patrick Swayze, Ryan Reynolds, Adam Levine and so many more, all the way back to Mel Gibson, who first earned the honor in 1985. In addition to gracing the cover, there’s an interview and photo spread in People Magazine and a video segment celebrating his win.
Rudd tells the magazine he anticipates the award changing his life a lot. “I’m hoping now that I’ll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B Jordan,” he says. “And I figure I’ll be on a lot more yachts. I’m excited to expand my yachting life. And I’ll probably try to get better at brooding in really soft light. I like to ponder. I think this is going to help me become more inward and mysterious. And I’m looking forward to that.”
Rudd will next grace the big screen with his sexiness in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, opening November 19th.
