The MTV Movie and TV Awards: Unscripted was not the place to diss reality shows. “Think of this as the Oscars, but for stuff we actually watch,” host Nikki Glaser quipped.

Monday’s ceremony aired one day after the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards were held live at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. 

This show isn’t the same Sunday’s star-studded soiree, which honored scripted fare. The MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted focused on reality TV. 

The awards for the scripted content were a superhero sweep; Marvel Studios picked up an award in every category it was nominated in with shows like WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Monday’s big hero was RuPaul: RuPaul’s drag race won awards in three of the four categories in which it was nominated, including best cast, best competition show, and a gold popcorn statuette for RuPaul as best host.

BTS: Break the Silence: The Movie won best music documentary, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah won best topical/news program, Impractical Jokers won best comedy/game show, and The Bachelorette won best dating show.

Jersey Shore: Family Vacation took the MTV Reality Royalty Award.
