Leave Your Dog at Home When You Immerse Yourself in the Violent World of “The ‘John Wick’ Experience”
Who you kill in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas – at least at the “John Wick Experience”.
Lionsgate Films, the studio behind the franchise, is teaming up with series director Chad Steheski and his production company 87Eleven to create an exhibit in Las Vegas’ AREA15 campus where visitors can “navigate a high stakes adventure as well as visit a themed bar and retail shop open to the general public.” Presumably the adventure does not start with your dog being shot by unfriendly assassins.
Guests of the “John Wick Experience” will get to play out missions involving “characters, mythology and iconography” from the film series that will put them in scenes with characters from the Continental, or with assassins, crime bosses, and other novice killers who are participating in the experience. It is unlikely that star Keanu Reeves will be on hand to guide you through your adventure, though.
“Guests will be drawn into the culture, trusted with secrets, and invited to private areas of the Continental, promising an authentic and compelling action-packed experience,” says the literature promoting the experience. Presumably, actually killing anyone during the excursion will be frowned upon.
This is Lionsgate’s fourth Las Vegas attraction, having previously given fans the chance to finally act out the thrilling experiences they’ve seen in movies like Saw, The Hunger Games, and The Blair Witch Project. While those movies’ experiences were escape room-type adventures, “The John Wick Experience” won’t be labeled as such.
The “John Wick Experience” opens later this year as part of Lionsgate’s plan to keep John Wick top of mind with moviegoers, perhaps leading up to a fifth John Wick movie soon, along with a video game. Last year saw the release of the fourth film in the franchise and a limited series based on the early days of The Continental, which streamed on Starz. A spinoff movie called Ballerina starring Ana de Armas is scheduled to hit theaters next summer.
