A “Hill” to Die On: ‘Until Dawn’ Movie Taps Peter Stormare to Reprise His Role from the Videogame
The doctor will see you now.
Peter Stormare has been cast as Dr. Alan Hill in Sony/PlayStation’s upcoming adaptation of the horror videogame Until Dawn. Stormare was the model and voice actor for the character for the game, released in 2015.
Stormare joins a cast that also consists of Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo and Odessa A’zion. Shooting is set to begin later this month.
David F. Sandberg (Shazam! Fury of the Gods) is directing from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman (Annabelle: Creation).
Until Dawn is an interactive game that puts eight friends (and frenemies) together at a remote mountain retreat. The group must deal with such threats as a mysterious killer and cannibalistic wendigos, and the game puts them on a cable car and in a disused mining cave. The group must fight through their fear if they all hope to make it through the night in one piece.
Though there is no official logline to show how all the different game scenarios will be incorporated into the film’s story, the adaptation has been described as an R-rated love letter to the horror genre, centering as many such films do on the ensemble cast.
Stormare has hundreds of voice and acting credits to his name in both the US and his native Sweden, but his breakout role was probably as one of the kidnappers in the Coen brothers’ 1996 cult classic Fargo. He’s also appeared in the John Wick movie series, Armageddon, The Big Lebowski, and Constantine, and he served for a few seasons on the Fox series Prison Break.
