With San Diego Comic Con happening now, and the new Spider-Man movie coming out next week, news about the MCU is everywhere, and this may be the most exciting bit of news yet: MCU chief said the Miles Morales, protagonist of the Spider-Verse animated series of films, is headed to Marvel’s live-action division.

The bad news is that it’s going to be awhile before that comes to pass. Feige, on a Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour in China, said “The good news is, Sony has the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, which are very popular and excellent, and Beyond the Spider-Verse is coming out next year. But yes, we definitely have plans [for a live-action Miles], and I think a live-action Spider-Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends.”

Considering the last live action Spider-Man film, 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, featured a multiverse that included Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the character, it wouldn’t be a stretch to put yet another iteration of the character.

Of course, there’s always the issue of Sony’s rights to Spider-Man, but the Marvel and Sony have shared the intellectual property before, so once the lawyers figure it all out, this could be a thing. And Feige said the same thing back in 2023 (and added that there would be a Spider-Woman film one day too.)

Feige added, “We’ve been thinking and discussing more Spider-Man adventures, regardless of agreements or contracts. My production partner, Amy Pascal, is already working on it, and we’ve had in-depth discussions about what the next two, three, four, and five Spider-Man movies might be about.”

Miles Morales’ made his big screen debut in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018 and returned for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in 2023. Shameik Moore will reprise his voice role in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which comes out next year and sees Miles trapped in an alternate universe and on the run while trying to save his family.

Feige didn’t mention who would play a live action Miles Morales, as whatever is happening is in the pre-planning stages right now. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, premieres in theaters next week.
