Two new films based on literary works were announced Wednesday.

Garth Ennis, creator of Preacher as well as The Boys, has another project in development at Amazon. Amazon MGM Studios is making a feature film from Ennis’ comic Freddie the Fix.

Who (or what) is Freddie the Fix? According to Image Comics, which publishes the books, Freddie is “a twisted horror tale from Garth Ennis and [artist] Mike Perkins… Hollywood After Dark — werewolves, vampires, zombies, aliens, bogeymen, predators, and…things. They all have their kinks, and they all get in deep sh-t. They all call Freddie…to fix it.”

Set to direct is Lawrence Lamont (One of Them Days), with Kalen Egan and Travis Sentell handling screenwriting duties. Kimberly Steward, Alex Foster and Kenya Barris producing.

The comic was first published in December 2024 by Ninth Circle. No details concerning casting or a production timeline are known at this time.

Though it was optioned by Netflix, production honors for Every House is Haunted will go to 20th Century Studios, which has hired Sam Raimi to produce.

Netflix acquired the rights to Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman’s script in 2021, but now it belongs to 20th. Based on a short story called “The House on Ashley Avenue” by Ian Rogers, the story follows an insurance investigator as he tries to debunk claims that a couple’s death was caused by a haunted house. When he investigates, he finds his doubts are challenged by a psychic and the mysterious occurrences he witnesses with his own eyes.

The title of the film comes from the book the short story was taken from, published in 2012. There’s no word on whether the 2021 script will undergo rewrites. Adam Schindler and Brian Netto (Don’t Move) are attached to direct, taking over from The Nun director Corin Hardy, who was slated to helm the film back in 2021 but who has since moved on to other projects.

As with Freddy the Fix, this project is in the early development stage so nothing is known re: casting and release dates.
