Antici…pation: Tim Curry Returns in ‘Stream’, a New Horror that May Already Be In a Theater Near You
Tim Curry’s big screen return has been a closely-guarded secret – until now.
Curry will appear in Stream, a new horror film from director/writer/producer Michael Leavy, opening in select theaters on Wednesday.
The beloved actor, known for his iconic roles as Dr. Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Pennywise the killer clown in the It miniseries, and Wadsworth the butler in Clue, last appeared in a theatrical release in the 2010 comedy Burke and Hare. Curry also has memorable roles in Annie, Legend, Clue, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, The Three Musketeers, Muppet Treasure Island, Scary Movie 2 and more
Curry suffered a stroke in 2012, and has since concentrated on voice acting, though he did appear in the Fox television remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 2016.
In a statement, Leavy said, “This has been a really hard secret to keep and contain our excitement, especially for this long. We are so happy and thrilled to bring Tim back to the movies and back to the big screen! His charm always radiates and shines through everything he does and we are so honored to have him a part of Stream! He is someone I have idolized personally growing up and it is one of the major highlights of my life getting to work with him, especially on a project that means so much to me. We can’t wait for fans to sit back and enjoy our movie in theaters and hopefully with a huge crowd having a blast together! This is the way horror films are meant to be seen and enjoyed. Stream is here to entertain!”
Stream‘s plot revolves around a family’s simple weekend getaway that turns into “a vacation to die for, as four deranged killers playing a sadistic game lock down their hotel and compete for the most creative murders of all the guests.”
Besides Curry, Stream‘s cast features a roster of horror movie icons like Jeffrey Combs, Danielle Harris, Dee Wallace, Tony Todd, Bill Moseley, Terry Kiser, Felissa Rose, Dave Sheridan, Daniel Roebuck, Tim Reid, Dave Sheridan, and more.
Leavy told Variety, which broke the story, “Stream is a modernized slasher made by horror fans for horror fans and we are extremely excited and honored to be bringing this movie to the big screen for audiences to enjoy together.”
Stream will be in some theaters through August 25th. A wider distribution date has not been announced yet. You can check to see if it’s playing near you at the Iconic Events website.
