It’s been an up and down week for the Looney Tunes.

First, The Day the World Blew Up, a gloriously fun new film featuring Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and Petunia Pig, debuted in theaters to much acclaim. But that same weekend, Warner Bros. Discovery deleted all of its Looney Tunes content from the streaming service Max.

Now things may once again be looking up for the Tunes, as Ketchup Entertainment, the same company that distributed the long-delayed The Day the World Blew Up, is thisclose to a deal that will allow them to release Coyote vs. Acme, a cartoon/live-action hybrid starring John Cena and Will Forte, from Warner’s tax write-off vault.

Coyote vs. Acme follows Wile E. Coyote as he sues the Acme Corporation for all the allegedly defective products he used to try to catch the Road Runner. The film was directed by David Green and written by Samy Burch; Lana Condor, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly and Eric Bauza all star.

Long considered a lost cause, Coyote vs. Acme is no longer in the same company as completed films Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt, which were shelved after the studio’s former boss Jason Kilar, who greenlit the projects, departed the company in April 2022 for new bosses James Gunn and David Zaslav.

The transition and subsequent bookkeeping manipulations meant that the films were now a liability, and the powers that be made the decision to pull all three from the studio’s release schedule.

Ketchup and Warner are reportedly discussing a roughly $50 million deal for some time that could put the project in theaters in 2026. Warner has yet to confirm the news.

Warner Bros. Discovery opted to shop The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie which has earned $5.5 million globally after its release last weekend.
