The blondes are back, baby!

Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson is generating Oscar buzz for her work in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, and Cameron Diaz returns to acting after an eleven-year hiatus in Netflix’s Back in Action, which teams her with Jamie Foxx.

In The Last Showgirl, Anderson plays a Las Vegas dancer who finds herself at an unexpected crossroads when the show that has employed her for three decades suddenly closes. The movie is a character study showcasing Anderson’s considerable acting ability, according to critics who saw the movie when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Coppola directed the movie from a screenplay by Kate Gerston. The Last Showgirl also stars Kiernan Shipka, Brenda Song, Billie Lourd, Dave Bautista and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Roadside Attractions will give the film a limited (to Los Angeles) release on December 13th to allow it to qualify for the year’s crop of awards. The Last Showgirl dances into theaters nationwide on January 10th.

Cameron Diaz also has a new movie coming out in January. Diaz will return to Charlie’s Angels-style fight choreography in Back in Action, co-starring Jamie Foxx.

The official description of Back in Action reads, “years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx) find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.”

In the trailer, Foxx and Diaz truly seem to enjoy trading in suburbia for the full spy experience.

“For the first time in a really long time, I felt alive again. I felt like the bitch again,” Diaz as Emiy exclaims in the trailer.

“Just like old times, baby. Just like old times,” says Foxx’s Matt.

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) directs from a script he wrote with Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors). Beau Bauman (Central Intelligence) produces for Good One Productions. Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, Kyle Chandler, and Glenn Close also star.
