Can’t Read My ‘Joker’ Face: Sequel Casting News: Lady Gaga Joins Cast In Yet-Unnamed Role
Is Gaga the new Harley?
Lady Gaga announced today that she will be join the cast of the upcoming Joker sequel, named Joker: Folie à Deux, to be directed by Todd Phillips.
The animated musical clip, which the star posted on Twitter and Instagram, revealed that the movie has a scheduled release date of October 4th, 2024. It’s not known who Gaga would play, but there is speculation that she could be taking on the role of Harley Quinn, who has been played by Margot Robbie in past DC films.
The first Joker movie was originally intended as a standalone movie, but it did great at the box office and received critical acclaim, recieving 11 Academy Award nominations, including one for Best Picture. And with a slate of DC films that are giving Warner Bros Discovery bad press, like the upcoming Flash movie starring the extremely problematic Ezra Miller and the recent news that the planned Batgirl movie will never see the light of day, the studio could use a win.
The film, whose title is translated as “madness for two”, is rumored to have more musical elements, making Gaga a great fit for any role. Production on the film is set to start in December.
