Will he or won’t he?

Chris Evans is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America in an upcoming Marvel project, if you believe Deadline.

But don’t bother asking Chris Evans for confirmation. He’s claiming – or feigning – ignorance.

America’s Ass won’t admit it, but according to insiders, Evans may once again suit up as the Captain, though it looks like he won’t be headlining his own film. Deadline cites unnamed sources who say Evans may take a cue from Robert Downey Jr., who appeared as Tony Stark in films like Spider-Man, where his character wasn’t the main focus.

Marvel hasn’t commented, and while Evans has stated in the past that he was finished playing Cap, he never completely shut the door on the possibility.

How he might return hasn’t been leaked, but the options are unlimited. Marvel has found way to insert characters from retired MCU franchises into other properties, and the addition of new Disney+ limited series adds even more ways he could make his return.

With Disney both rebooting the Fantastic Four after rescuing it from Fox, and adding characters from older iterations of Spider-Man to upcoming projects, it wouldn’t be a total surprise to see Evans return as Johnny Storm. Flame on!
