Caught in the Web: Trailer for ‘Cobweb’ Promises Scares Aplenty in New Film From Producers of ‘Barbarian’
Who’s that knocking from inside the walls?
That’s the question in the trailer for Cobweb, a new film from from filmmaker Samuel Bodin, creator and director of the Netflix horror TV series Marianne.
In Cobweb, a child (played by Woody Norman) starts to hear knocks coming from inside the wall of his bedroom. Peter is an 8-year-old boy, lonely and bullied in school, and his supportive (possibly) mom (Lizzy Caplan, Castle Rock) and dad (Antony Starr, The Boys) write off his experience as merely bad dreams, or his “overactive imagination”.
As the strange sounds (and sights) escalate, Peter starts to believe that his parents could be hiding a terrible, dangerous secret and questions whether he can trust them, and for a child, what could be more frightening than that?
“This is an old house. There are bound to be bumps in the night,” Caplan’s Carol tells her son in the footage before scaring the crap out of her child.
Cleopatra Coleman from Fox’s The Last Man on Earth and Zack Snyder’s upcoming Rebel Moon also appears as Peter’s worried teacher, who seems to be the only person who believes Peter’s story. This, of course, puts her in the path of whatever entity is stalking Peter.
Chris Tomas Devlin (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) penned the script. The production team (Roy Lee, Andrew Childs, Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen, James Weaver, and Josh Fagen) behind Cobweb also brought horror fans hits like Barbarian and It.
Cobweb will be spooking theater-goers starting July 21st.
