Susan Sarandon as the Big Bad? Yes, please.

Sarandon plays Victoria Kord in Blue Beetle, the next DC movies slated to hit theaters, and she’s out to get Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña), who is struggling with his new alter-ego, the Blue Beetle. Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology called the Scarab, which chooses Jaime as its new symbiotic host. This gives him a high-tech suit of armor capable of extraordinary (and unpredictable powers) that he cannot control.

Enter Victoria Kord, who along with Conrad Carapax, a.k.a. the Indestructible Man (Raoul Max Trujillo) use their combined power and might to attempt to get the Scarab back from Jaime, who must protect himself, his family, and the rest of the world from these new nemeses.

Also starring in the film are Adriana Barraza (Rambo: Last Blood) as Jaime’s grandmother; Belissa Escobedo (Hocus Pocus 2) as his sister, Milagro; Damían Alcázar (Narcos) as his father; Elpidia Carrillo (Mayans M.C.) as his mother; and George Lopez (Rio) as Jaime’s uncle, Rudy. The cast also features Bruna Marquezine (Maldivas) as Jenny Kord and Harvey Guillén as Dr. Sanchez.

Blue Beetle is directed by Angel Manuel Soto and is one of the movies held over from the previous regime at DC/Warner Bros., before James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed co-chiefs last year. The movie was scripted by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and produced by Zev Foreman, Garrett Grant and Walter Hamada.

Blue Beetle flies into theaters on August 18th.
