Cap and the Widow are taking about reuniting.

Not in a Marvel production, of course – both actors are no longer Avengers. The two are in “advanced negotiations” to co-star in Apple Studios Ghosted from director Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman.)

The project is being described as a combination romance/action/adventure movie, reminiscent of Romancing the Stone, the 1984 adventure movie that starred Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.

The project, sure to be expensive, is part of Apple’s plan to attract top talent for its growing feature division. Apple’s current projects include Emancipation, a slave drama starring Will Smith, Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese’s period thriller that stars Leonardo DiCaprio filmed earlier this year. Also upcoming is Kitbag with Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon Bonaparte and Jodie Comer (Free Guy) as his wife Josephine, directed by Ridley Scott.

For Johansson, this is the second deal she has made since filing her lawsuit against Disney over alleged contract breaches with the Disney+ release of Black Widow. She’s currently in Spain filming the upcoming untitled Wes Anderson movie slated for release in 2022.

Evans has been busy too, finding success with his legal drama, Defending Jacob, (another Apple production), and recently wrapped The Gray Man, an action thriller with Ryan Gosling that reunited him with his Avengers filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo.

The script is by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the writers of the Deadpool films and Zombieland.
