An upcoming holiday-action-adventure movie just got a lot more jacked.

Chris Evans has been signed to star alongside Dwayne Johnson in the holiday event film Red One for Amazon Studios. The movie is described in Deadline as “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.”

The Rock touted the casting news on his Instagram, shouting his all-caps joy that “CAPTAIN AMERICA… teams up with BLACK ADAM⚡️ to make a CHRISTMAS MOVIE. Think MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET meets HOBBS & SHAW with a little bit of ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE sprinkled on top.”

The movie will be directed by some of Johnson’s favorite collaborators, including Jake Kasdan, who directed Johnson in his Jumanji movies, and it’s from writer Chris Morgan, who penned the Fast and the Furious films.

Plot details on Red One are not available but the movie is said to be based on an original story from Hiram Garcia, who produced Jungle Cruise and Red Notice, and should start filming this year with an Amazon Prime release scheduled for December, 2023.

Johnson signed off his post saying that “I think we’re gonna make a great holiday movie for you and your families around the world to enjoy!”
