Tech billionaires aren’t usually as buff as Channing Tatum, but this is fiction.

Amazon/MGM unveiled a first look at Zoë Kravitz’s twisted directorial debut Blink Twice starring Tatum as a charming, mysterious, and sinister mogul.

Originally titled Pussy Island, the movie follows Frida (Naomi Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) as they are charmed by tech billionaire Slater King (Tatum) into joining him at his private island for a weekend getaway. What starts as a hedonistic getaway vacation spirals into a surreal waking nightmare that challenges Frida’s ability to tell what’s real and what is false memory.

“So do you think the human sacrifice is before or after dinner?” Jess jokingly asks Frida, when the situation still passes for normal.

As seen in the trailer, Jess’ question proves to be forshadowing. Jess disappears and Frida is forced to team up with fellow guest Sarah (Adria Arjona) to find Jess and a way to get off the island.

Kravitz cast Tatum in the film when production started, leading to the two becoming an item. They were recently engaged.

Kravitz told The Hollywood Reporter why she cast Channing as the bad guy, saying she liked that he hadn’t really done dark roles before.

“Looking at his work and hearing him speak about Magic Mike and the live show, I’m like, ‘I think he’s a feminist,’” she said. “You need to be so far from who this is, where it’s not scary. And I don’t think we’ve ever seen him play someone dark. I’m excited to see him do that.”

The star-studded cast includes Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment, Geena Davis, Simon Rex, Christian Slater and Liz Caribel.

In addition to Kravitz, Bruce Cohen, Garret Levitz and Tiffany Persons get a producer credit, with Jordan Harkins and Stacy Perskie serving as executive producers for Amazon/MGM.

Blink Twice sails into theaters on August 23rd.
