‘Deadpool 3’ Casting News: Rob Delaney Set To Return As Peter, The Human X-Force Guy
Good news for people who like Rob Delaney: (guilty as charged!) the actor is reprising his role as Peter in Deadpool 3. According to Deadline, Delaney signed a deal to return for the third Deadpool film.
If you’re unfamiliar with Delaney or his character from Deadpool 2, Delaney played Peter, a member of the X-Force who fought on the side of good, despite having no mutant powers.
Peter was a regular person with no superpowers, and thought he died at the beginning of Deadpool 2, Deadpool used a time travel device to save his life in the post-credits scene, thus allowing him to return to the franchise.
For those in the know, Delaney has an extensive resume. He is an Emmy and BAFTA Award-nominated comedian, actor, and writer best known for co-creating and starring opposite Sharon Horgan in the acclaimed comedy series Catastrophe, which ran for four seasons on Channel 4 and Prime Video.
He’s also previously appeared in films like Netflix’s The School for Good and Evil, Amblin’s The Good House opposite Sigourney Weaver, the Disney+ reboot Home Sweet Home Alome opposite Ellie Kemper, Lionsgate’s Bombshell and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. In addition to doing the sarcasm-heavy narration for the wacko Netflix dating series Sexy Beasts, he has also been seen on Amazon’s The Power, Showtime’s The Man Who Fell to Earth and and Comedy Central’s Key and Peele, among many other series.
Other Deadpool include Karan Soni as Deadpool’s cab driver sidekick Dopinder, Leslie Uggams as Deadpool’s his roommate Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as his dead-slash-revived fiancée Vanessa and Stefan Kapicic as the metallic mutant Colossus. Newcomers to the franchise will include Hugh Jackman (who reprises his role as Wolverine), The Crown‘s Emma Corrin and Succession‘s Matthew Macfadyen.
The screenplay for the third film was written by star Ryan Reynolds, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Zeb Wells. Shawn Levy is returning to direct the third installment.
Deadpool 3 will be the first title in the franchise to involve Marvel boss Kevin Feige following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, which released the first two installments. The film is slated for release on November 8th, 2024.
