The Muppets are coming back in a big way, and Miss Piggy is leading the charge; getting her own feature film with some big names backing her up.

Jennifer Lawrence recently shared on Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ Las Culturistas podcast that she and Emma Stone are collaborating on a new film centered around the beloved Muppet character, with Cole Escola, who created the play Oh, Mary!, writing the screenplay. Lawrence said she and Stone would most likely appear in the film, saying, “I think so, we have to.”

Earlier this year, we announced that Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg will produce a Muppets Variety Show to air in 2026. It will be hosted by Sabrina Carpenter and could lead to a revival of the series from the 1970s.

As far as the movie is concerned, not much more is known; after letting the pig out of the bag about the project, Lawrence didn’t reveal any plot, character or casting details on the podcast. It’s not even known if Miss Piggy’s long-time co-star Kermit the Frog will be among the puppets cast.

Miss Piggy made her debut in 1974, originally performed by Frank Oz. Eric Jacobson now performs as Miss Piggy, who has been a pop culture and feminist icon who has already conquered film, television, fashion, recording, and publishing
