People really fell for Fall.

The 2022 movie about two friends who ascend to the top of a 2,000 foot tall radio tower in the middle of nowhere, only to meet a fairly predictable fate, did well enough on Netflix internationally to warrant a sequel, reports Deadline.

Director Scott Mann and Teashop Productions will return for the high-flying second go-around. The original was also a hit during its theatrical run, making more than $21 million against its $3 million budget and it received positive reviews from both critics and audiences. James Harris of producing studio Tea Shop Productions commented on the show’s increased popularity on streaming, happy with how word of mouth has only continued to lead viewers to the film.

“We were pleasantly surprised by how everybody has such a visceral reaction to it,” Harris told Deadline. “It is one of those movies where word of mouth really helps.”

Mark Lane, Tea Shop’s other co-founder, added: “It’s an easy thing for people to pick up on a streamer. You can see the concept in the poster image and we’re finding that if people try it, they are getting hooked instantly.”

Lane and Harris worked together previously on the film 47 Meters Down, and indicated that they want a worthy followup to their hit. “We’ve got a couple of ideas we’re kicking around … We don’t want to make something that feels like a copycat or less than the first one,” said Harris.

The original starred Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner, along with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Mason Gooding. The cast for the sequel is not yet known, and the project should get underway later this year.
