She killed it as the lead in Enola Holmes and her character Eleven returns when Stranger Things season four drops in 2021, but both of those properties are on Netflix. Now Millie Bobby Brown returns to the big screen with the help of the Avengers team.

Brown is attached to star in an adaptation of The Electric State, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Simon Stålenhag. It’s the story of Michelle, a 19-year-old girl with a shotgun, a stolen car and her toy robot sidekick, finding their way through the what remains of the despoiled and militarized American west. She’s headed for San Francisco, or what remains of it, to find her missing brother.

The film already has a Marvel flair, with Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Endgame) directing. The project also teams the Russos with Infinity War and Endgame screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who are writing the script.

An adaptation of The Electric State has been in the works under the Russo’s AGBO production banner for years. In 2017, the concept was reported to be in the planning stages with Andy Muschietti and his sister, Barbara Muschietti producing. As the Muschiettis have since taken on The Flash for Warner Bros., that meant the Russos could step in as directors. The Muschiettis will still serve as producers. Mike Larocca of AGBO will also produce. Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder are executive producing.

The Russos stipulated that this movie, unlike many others being released next year and beyond, will only be available in the theater.

“We’re thrilled to have this deal with Universal who has committed to a theatrical release of Electric State,” the Russos said in a statement. “This is incredible news for us as filmmakers, and for audiences around the world who want an opportunity to experience films in theaters again. This is also a positive sign that, as vaccines become available, the theatrical market is returning.”

No release date has been set yet for the movie.
