Cleaning pools is the day job, but Bud Jablonski’s side hustle is killing vampires.

Jamie Foxx plays the multi-faceted Jablonski in the new Netflix movie Day Shift, premiering on Netflix on August 12th. As part of the streamer’s Geeked Week, Netflix released a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the horror-thriller, featuring Foxx and producer Chad Stahelski and director J.J. Perry.

The film stars Foxx as a blue-collar dad who uses his San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job as a front that allows him to work as a vampire hunter, as he belongs to an international union of hunters. In addition to Foxx, the ensemble cast includes Dave Franco, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Scott Adkins, Meagan Good, Snoop Dogg, Tetiana Gaidar and Steve Howey.

The action-packed footage showcases the action and effects in the film, which is as amazing as you’d expect it to be since J.J. Perry (F9: The Fast Saga and John Wick) is making his directorial debut with this movie.

“We’re making something you’ve never seen before,” Foxx commented. “It’s fun, and the stunts that you see, it’s amazing and it’s practical.” He added, “The way J.J. uses all of his stunt women and men is brilliant. I cannot wait for people to get a dose of this and find out how to kill vampires right here on Day Shift.

The movie is written by Tyler Tice and Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead). Day Shift marks the latest collaboration between Jamie Foxx and Netflix after the 2020 action film Project Power and Foxx’s 2021 sitcom Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! Day Shift was first announced in 2020, and is finally premiering this summer.
