Halloween ‘Treat’ – Remastered in 4K, Horror Film ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ Gets Nationwide Theatrical Release

Horror movie fans are getting a real treat next month.
Cult classic Trick ‘r Treat, released in 2007, only had screenings at a few conventions and festivals before being relegated to home video distribution, but now the film will get its time to shine in theaters nationwide.
Fathom Entertainment will show the 4K restoration of writer-director Mike Dougherty’s Halloween anthology movie on October 14th and 16th. Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertaiment are behind the restoration and release of Trick ‘r Treat.
Trick ‘r Treat is an anthology of four stories, all taking place on Halloween night. The stories share the common character of Sam, a masked trick or treating tyke, who appears when the “rules” of Halloween get broken by the other characters.
According to the Fathom release for Trick ‘r Treat, the stories include “a high school principal, Dylan Baker (Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3) moonlights as a serial killer; a young virgin’s, Anna Paquin (True Blood, the X-Men franchise) search for the right man turns horrific; Leslie Bibb (The White Lotus) and her husband discover the cost of ignoring holiday rituals; and a cantankerous old man, Brian Cox (Succession) faces Sam in a terrifying showdown.”
The re-release will be accompanied by a featurette on the development of the film, which was Dougherty’s feature directing debut. Before the film, the 1996 animated short, Season’s Greetings which introduced Sam, will play. Season’s Greetings has also been restored in 4K.
Trick ‘r Treat was screened at Screamfest, San Diego Comic Con, Fantasia Festival and the After Dark festival, among others, when it was released. The film then received a Blu-ray and DVD release, but never was show theatrically.
You can buy tickets for the Fathom screenings on October 14th and 16th at their website.
