Is it June yet?

That’s how long we have to wait to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in theaters. Until then, though, Sony has whetted the appetites of fans by releasing a second trailer that shows just how deep into the Multiverse we can expect Miles to go.

The clip begins with Miles meeting The Spot, the mysterious universe-hopping entity. Then Gwen Stacy introduces Miles to the point in the multiverse where the infinite variants on Spider-Man can travel at will. (There’s even a lobby where they all hang out!)

In this new adventure, Miles has to journey across multiple universes and team up with new Spider-People to defeat a mysterious new villain set on destroying them all. The returning cast includes Shameik Moore as Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Stacy/Spider-Gwen, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Luna Lauren Vélez as Rio Morales and Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis.

Here, Miguel leads the Spider-Force, a team of multiverse protectors that include the Jessica Drew Spider-Woman (Issa Rae), Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya), and Spider-Man India (Karan Soni). The voice cast also includes Jason Schwartzman and Jorma Taccone as the villains The Spot and Vulture, and Shea Whigham as Gwen’s dad George Stacy.

In addition, the film will reportedly feature a dizzying array (240, or thereabouts) of new characters and Spider-People, including Oscar Isaac, who played the Miguel O’Hara version of Spider-Man (known as Spider-Man 2099), who reprises his role from the post-credits scene of Into the Spider-Verse.

The MCU is mentioned in the trailer as well: “Don’t even get me started on Doctor Strange and the little nerd on back on Earth-199999!” Miguel says to Miles, apparently referring to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. (Although the number is a mystery; our Earth is often described as Prime Earth, and Doctor Strange calls the MCU Earth-616 in the Multiverse of Madness.

Across the Spider-Verse sports three directors: Soul co-director Kemp Powers, Avatar: The Last Airbender director Joaquim Dos Santos, and Justin K. Thompson. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham wrote the script for the feature, and Lord and Miller produce with Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Christina Steinberg.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the first of a twopart sequel and will sling into theaters on June 2nd.
