It’s official: The Batman is getting The Sequel.

The news comes straight from Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich, who shared the news at CinemaCon 2022. No plot details or release window was announced.

“Matt took one of our most iconic and beloved superheroes and delivered a fresh film” Warner Bros. movie chief Toby Emmerich revealed at CinemaCon. ” Matt Reeves, Rob Pattinson and the entire team will be taking audiences back to Gotham with The Batman 2.”

Reeves came on stage to help announce the news, saying Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Reeves, and crew will be back for another adventure. Reeves said more details will be revealed “in a CinemaCon to come.”

The Batman, released in early March of this year, went on to be a huge critical and box office success. Thus far, it is the highest-grossing film of 2022, with a total worldwide take of $759 million.

HBO Max is also producing a Batman spinoff series centering around Farrell’s Penguin.

Reeves said to the room of exhibitors: “Thank you all for your tremendous support for The Batman. We couldn’t have gotten here without the faith and enthusiasm of all your teams around the world. I’m excited to jump back into this world for the next chapter.”
