Lois Lane and the 11th Doctor are headed for a galaxy far far away.
Amy Adams (Arrival, Man of Steel, Enchanted) and Matt Smith (Doctor Who, House of the Dragons) are joining the cast of the Shawn Levy-directed Star Wars: Starfighter, a standalone film set in the greater Star Wars universe.
Smith and Adams join Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth, whose casting was announced earlier, in the film, which takes place approximately five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Starfighter won’t be connected to any previous Star Wars films and will have unique characters and an unrelated storyline. Flynn Gray, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings are also in the cast.
Levy, who has directed Deadpool & Wolverine, Free Guy and The Adam Project, is beyond excited to take on a Star Wars film for the first time.
In a statement, Levy said, “I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”
Jonathan Topper is writing the script, which the only thing we know about it – details have yet to be released. Star Wars: Starfighter is scheduled to be released theatrically on May 28th, 2027.
