The premiere date on the new James Bond movie trailer indicates a October 8th start.

James Bond’s greatest foe strikes again.

No, not Blofeld or Goldfinger or Dr No; once again Bond has been thwarted by Covid-19. MGM, the studio releasing the film, has delayed its theatrical release yet again, this time to October 8th, 2021.

Daniel Craig’s fifth turn as the super-spy was last intended to open April 2nd of this year. This is the third time the film has been delayed since the coronavirus pandemic started. It was originally set to open in North American theaters on April 10th, 2020.

The No Time to Die premiere date’s trip around the calendar is a symbol of the pandemic’s impact on theaters and the movie industry. The 25th film in the Bond series was the first major movie to be delayed because of the pandemic, but it was far from the last.

Disney has shifted The King’s Man from March 12th to August 20th. the film is Matthew Vaughan’s World WarI-era prequel to 2015’s Kingsman: Secret Service. Bob’s Burgers, a new film from 20th Century, was removed altogether from its previous release date of April 9th.

Sony also said on Thursday that Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the sequel to the popular Ghostbusters franchise, would be moving from June 6th to November 11th. Theater owners, whose business hangs in the balance because of the outbreak, and the rest of Hollywood wait with baited breath to see if a new batch of blockbuster will be postponed in the coming weeks.

Sony’s Cinderella will release in theaters July 16 instead of its original February 5 date, with Sony still set on the movie needing a theatrical release. Like dominoes, one movie’s delay topples the rest of the release calendar.

Cinderella‘s delay bumps the Tom Holland’s Uncharted from its original mid-July slot to February 11th, 2022. Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway has been pushed from April 2nd to June 11th. Meanwhile, the highly-anticipated Marvel thriller Morbius, starring Jared Leto, has been moved to January 21st, 2022.

Universal’s Last Night in Soho, originally set for an April 23rd, 2021 release will now arrive in theaters on Friday, October 22, 2021, just in time for Halloween. The new film by Edgar Wright stars the Anya Taylor-Joy.

Paramount announced that A Quiet Place II will move from April to September 17th, 2021. The Emily Blunt-starring sequel, directed by John Krasinski, was already moved from March of last year.

The next major film releases are Black Widow with Scarlet Johansson, which is set for May 7th, and Vin Diesel’s ,F9, which is set for May 28th. Probably.
