Same Spider, New Web: Now with Paramount, ‘Longlegs’ Sequel Will Walk Into Theaters in 2028

Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs sequel has woven a new web: Paramount Pictures, which took over from original releaser Neon, announced Monday that Longlegs 2 will hit theaters in 2028.
Nicolas Cage returns in the as-yet-untitled “sequel”, which he will help produce, despite [spoiler] his character having killed himself in a distressingly violent and gory manner in the original. Perkins will once again write and direct the sequel, and is also a producer.
No plot and casting details are known yet, but the film (not officially a sequel) will reportedly be set in the same universe as the original, which followed FBI agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) who investigates a series of murder-suicides in Oregon, each with the same disturbing pattern and elements of the occult. Cage played an eerie character with a strange connection to the killings.
Longlegs was a hit after it opened in July of 2024, with the best original horror box office returns of the year upon its release. This gave Neon its best opening weekend at $22.6 million. Ultimately the film took in $127 million globally for a profit of $48 million.
Longlegs 2 will open January 14th, 2028.
